Meet WingStar aka Mapui Kawlim. WingStar is Tinkle’s (andperhapsthe country’s) first reluctant superhero who made her debutin the35th Anniversary issue. Mapui Kawlim is a 13-year-old girlfrom thetown of Aizwa in Mizoram, loosely based on Aizawl. She’scurrentlystudying in the 8th standard and comes from a middle classfamily.Mapui Kawlim was just a regular teenage girl living a normallifeuntil her father decided to give her some state-of-the-artgadgetsto try out. Tashi Kawlim is an inventor, working onvariousprojects for the Space Development Arm, SDA, of thegovernment. Inthe process of using the Rocket Thrusters, Iron FistsandReinforced Robotic Arms (RRA) her father had given her,Mapuistarts helping out her friends, her neighbours andeventuallyanyone in town who needs help. But she soon realizes thatshe’sleft with no time for herself or for the things she likes todo.So, her father figures out that she needs a super secretsuperheroidentity, WingStar, if she has to have any privacy or anysemblanceof a normal life.
